Voces de la communidad branding
The branding of Voces de la Comunidad marked a fresh beginning for a new department at Rutgers University, aimed at serving the Spanish-speaking community in Camden. The objective was to create a vibrant and distinctive visual identity that reflects the spirit, culture, and values of the community.
The design draws inspiration from iconic local landmarks such as the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and the row homes that characterize Camden's neighborhoods. These elements were incorporated to ground the brand in a recognizable and meaningful visual context.
The department’s mission is to keep the Spanish-speaking population informed by translating important research, news, and community events. To reflect this mission, the branding uses bold, eye-catching colors to convey energy and optimism, while symbolizing the core values of community, language, education, cultural inclusion, and accessible information.
At the heart of the design is the visual representation of people, emphasizing human connection and the power of communication in building a stronger, more informed community.
In addition to the branding, I developed a flyer design to help communicate the department’s mission to the community in a clear and engaging way. I also created a series of poster designs for upcoming events organized by the department, which aimed to foster community engagement around topics such as science, literacy (reading and writing), and the arts. Each design was crafted to align visually with the overall brand while appealing to a diverse audience through vibrant visuals and accessible messaging.
